Who is Daniel Wakeford?

The loveable Daniel Wakeford starred in Channel 4’s popular show The Undateables back in 2015. The TV show features different people on their journey to find love, filming the dating experiences of those with various conditions that can add pressure to the dating world.

Known to many close friends as “Danny”, the Brighton-born lad is known for bringing awareness to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a condition that affects social cognition, like speech and language.

Daniel is a content creator on TikTok.

Fans of Daniel Wakeford loved watching him on The Undateables. But the best part is that it’s not over! You can still catch him performing on TikTok videos, where he’s grown over 400 thousand followers. His page is honestly a breath of fresh air, and it really will brighten up even the darkest of days. You’ll find him hopping on the trends, like the Netflix smash-hit Squid Game, and just sharing little tidbits of his day.

Daniel is a professional singer song-writer

After his success on the reality dating show, Daniel Wakeford finally landed his dream musical career. He paired up with the musician Tom Cook, and the two began creating incredible songs together.

He’s released two albums and a number of hit songs. The first song he ever wrote was The Black of Lonely when he was 18 years old, which he also performed on the final of the European Song Competition.

Daniel is in a band…

We’re not pulling your leg, this is big news. Since he began his music career a few years ago, Daniel has been really kicking things up a notch. He founded the Daniel Wakeford Experience in 2016, and the band has been touring internationally ever since! Venues include (but are not limited to) Brixton’s O2 academy and Transmusicales des Rennes in France. Tres chic!

… and with a band comes merch!

Obviously, the logical next step when you’re in a band is to give the fans what they want: merch. If any of you are interested, go check out Daniel’s site on Bandcamp. You can get your hands on your very own T-shirt, mug, or even a bottle opener with Danny’s face stamped on it.

He released a Christmas jingle

It seems like every cool musician earns their time in the spotlight during the festive season. Daniel now joins the likes of Michael Buble, Elton John, Mariah Carey and George Michael with a Christmas jingle himself. Titled “Everybody Needs Before Christmas”, the song is now one of the Top 5 on the artist’s page on Spotify and has over 40,000 streams.

It features all the default values of a good Christmas song: tinkling bells, upbeat and catchy, the all-important figureheads like Santa and The Snowman. Give it a listen – it’ll be stuck in your head all day.

Daniel and Lily Taylor were engaged

Although Daniel had a rocky start on the show, he and Lily went on a really cute date together – and it was like Cupid shot the arrow himself. The pair instantly hit it off. Then, on the Christmas Special Episode, Daniel performed Lily’s favourite song, Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas, got down on one knee and proposed to Lily. (I’m not crying, you are.)

And she said yes! Afterwards, Daniel melted even more hearts by shouting: “I did it! I’m feeling very excited. What’s the best feeling in the world? Love.” Let’s all take notes…

Daniel Wakeford is newly single!

Sadly, in June 2021, Daniel shared in a TikTok video that he and his fiancé, Lily Taylor, had broken off the marriage. He said: ‘It’s Daniel Wakeford here. Listen, I just want to let you all know, because me and Lily are always being romantic for the last three years, but we decided to end our relationship together.”

He continued with a heartfelt message and a cheeky hint: “It’s good to be alone… but this Summer, I might flirt with you… until then, bye-bye for now.” Aww, Daniel! We couldn’t agree more, sometimes you do need a break to reconnect with yourself after a relationship, especially if you’re not in love anymore.

The revelation did shock the nation, and one fan even commented: “This news is worse than hearing Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt ending!” But don’t worry guys – Daniel and Lily stay friends. On the bright side, the heartthrob is back on the single scene and he’s in popular demand!

Daniel Wakeford likes the spotlight

The former Undateables star, Daniel Wakeford actually had to convince his mum, Karen, to go on the show at first. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Karen revealed that she didn’t like the sound of the show, until she realised that the premise of The Undateables is actually a more positive intent. In fact, Daniel wants to act and participate in more reality shows and soaps like EastEnders! Let’s hope it happens.

Daniel’s favourite city is Brighton!

Danny will boast about his hometown and never gets bored of it. His favourite part of the city is the pier and the rides (duh!) and what’s not to love? Beach, fish and chips, the smell of the salty sea… he has unlimited access! Anyone else feeling a bit jealous?

Danny loves chocolate

Oh yes, Daniel is very partial to chocolate, especially the flavours with nuts inside. As he states from the classic film Matilda: “Much too good for children!”
