What did Maya do before joining the Oppenheim Group?
Before she became an international success, Maya Vander was born and raised in Israel. She initially had plans to become a model, moving to Amsterdam to kick-start her career when she was 20 years old.
However, Maya did a complete 180° and somehow ended up in real estate. Although it’s not as random as it seems; Maya grew up in a family of property investors and clearly showed appreciation for the skill.
She moved to Los Angeles in 2002 and joined the Oppenheim Group shortly after. This was the beginning of a very good career as a real estate agent.

Of course, we know that in Selling Sunset season two that the star shared her pregnancy announcement, and Maya gave birth to her baby boy, followed by a surprise second child, daughter Elle Madison. This was a precious moment, as Maya revealed she has previously suffered two miscarriages.

In an interview with Page Six, Maya explains that although she would love her husband to be on the show, Dave’s job is very serious. He works in finance in Miami’s financial hub and likes to keep his personal life out of the public eye, so as not to compromise his business deals or “destroy his career”. Although Maya’s husband has no qualms with her being on the show, and is “very supportive” of her decisions.
In fact, Maya says “doing a reality show is very risky… you saw what happened to Crishell and even her ex-husband wasn’t in the show… everything is exposed in public. So I don’t share as much as I would like to, but it is what it is”.
When speaking to Page Six, Maya claims that her husband is a “great guy” and although the two are non-stop busy, with the added stress of two children, they “try to respect each other and communicate”.

Maya is probably the most mature real estate agent on the show, rarely getting involved in the drama but more a fly on the wall. Previous seasons of Selling Sunset have revealed twisted truths between co-stars Christine Quinn and Crishell Strauss, long-term best friends falling out, heartbreak and more.
However, Maya Vander has a no-nonsense attitude and because of this, she avoids most of the drama. She reveals that as she keeps a lot of her personal life out of the storylines, that’s probably why she doesn’t have much screen time! This is a real shame because Maya has some incredible punch lines.
