It’s no secret that Kerry Katona has an OnlyFans account but with the recent announcement that the platform is banning sexually explicit content, she has some words of advice for the sexually liberated content creators of today.

What is being banned?

With the recent announcement that from 1st October ‘any content containing sexually explicit conduct’ will be banned on OnlyFans, which has 130 million users and 2 million content creators. Many sex workers, and content creators are proving to be extremely fearful of what happens next.

Lots of people who lost their jobs in the pandemic have turned to OnlyFans to sell explicit content in order to help pay the bills. With mortgages to pay and families to feed, the overall tone on Twitter over the last couple of days has been that of mostly anger.

Nudity is not being banned however and Kerry Katona is not one of the many sex workers on OnlyFans as her content is a little more mainstream. The ex-Atomic Kitten star exclusively told Thrillz: “My posts on OnlyFans are just topless pictures, it’s nothing I’ve not done for the magazines, so this change doesn’t really affect me, but it was still very scary at first when I didn’t know what exactly was being banned.”

She continued: “I panicked, I asked my fiancé Ryan if he’d seen the news. I’ve just moved house, I’ve got a Lamborghini on the way, I was worried about what was going to happen!”

“They are trying to clean up their image for investors to come in. They have got some fitness people on there, and they also want to encourage people to come on and do things like cooking lessons. They are trying to make it so it’s not all about sex,” she said.

Why is sexually explicit content being banned?

OnlyFans announced in its statement this week that its decision to remove pornography from its site was put in place “to comply with the requests of our banking partners and payout providers”.

However Seth Eisen, a spokesman for Mastercard, told CNN Business that it was not involved in OnlyFans’ decision to restrict the content it would allow on the platform. “It’s a decision they came to themselves,” Eisen said.

She said: “For now we’re looking at our options, there are loads of these platforms, whatever industry you’re in there’s always going to be someone else out there who’s always bigger and got better ideas, we always knew this was going to be the case, we always knew this wasn’t going to be forever.”

Advice for the sex workers of OnlyFans.

Kerry has some advice for the content creators currently on OnlyFans who may be worried about their future in the industry, she said: “Try not to panic, go and look at other platforms, there is nothing wrong in looking at a backup and making sure that you plan ahead, because nothing in life is for certain, even OnlyFans. That goes for everything in life.”

It is no secret that Kerry has had some hardships in life, she said: “I have gone from being the kid in a foster home, to becoming a millionaire at the age of 20 to then losing it all, losing absolutely everything, to then going back to being a millionaire again, so I know nothing is for certain, so always make sure you’ve got those options.”

As well as OnlyFans, Kerry has started her own fashion label, Kerry’s Boutique, along with multiple other business ventures including dating app alongside fiancé Ryan Mahoney, called ‘Marnii.”
