You may know Perez Hilton for, at one stage, being defined as one of the most controversial men in Hollywood. But is the celebrity blogger married? Does he have any children? And is he related to Paris Hilton? Thrillz investigates.
Who is Perez Hilton and is that his real name?
Perez Hilton was born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr (or Mario Armando Lavandeira III), but was known simply as Mario Lavandeira before he became the well-known Perez Hilton that he goes by today.
He is an American celebrity blogger and media personality from Miami, Florida but based in LA. He quickly made a name for himself and was known for either being well-liked or absolutely hated by some Hollywood celebrities, due to his style of blogging. His main area of expertise was celebrity gossip, which he published on his own blogging site, pagesixsixsix.com, which was later changed to perezhilton.com.
The most hated man in Hollywood?
In 2018, he was dubbed “the original celebrity social media influencer” by BroadwayWorld. Ironically, he has also been the subject of a lot of negative press himself, he was branded by some as the most hated man in Hollywood, a title he wholeheartedly accepted.
On his blogging site, he was known for the occasional “bashing” and “slating'” of celebrities. It also became apparent that there were some Hollywood stars he would write negatively about more than others.
He was notorious for re-posting tabloid photos which he would then add his own captions or “doodles” over.
Does Perez Hilton have children?
Perez Hilton has three children, Mario, Mia Alma and Mayte Amor. He has biologically fathered all three of his children, who were conceived with donor eggs from the same woman and were born via surrogate.
Perez and his three children live with his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, who helps take care of them.
Perez Hilton told the HuffPost: “I explain to my kids that their family is different than others. My mom lives with us and not many families are able to have that opportunity. That difference makes us special and awesome, to me and us. The older my kids get I will continue to be honest with them ― and with more depth.”
Currently, some states in America prohibit compensated surrogacy or present legal problems for same-sex couples and Perez hopes that they can evolve to have standardised laws relating to commercial surrogacy.
Perez is happy that he chose surrogacy over adoption, he said: “While I don’t rule out adoption in the future, for me it was important to have kids with my DNA. My dad passed away when I was 15 and having my children is a way of him living on through them – literally.”
Perez also told the HuffPost that he chose his egg donor because she seemed like a nice person. He said: “One of the main reasons I chose my egg donor is because she seemed nice. I’m sure money was a motive for her, but I could tell she was a good and decent person ― something that everyone from the surrogacy agency to the fertility clinic echoed. That was important to me.”
Does Perez Hilton have a boyfriend?
At the start of 2020 Perez said he was having trouble finding a boyfriend. During his appearance on the Australian version of ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ he told fellow contestant, Tanya Hennessy: “The overwhelming majority of gay men don’t like me. That’s hard, I believe everybody deserves love and companionship. I know that I’m a great partner and when I have, in the past, been in relationships, I’ve been an amazing boyfriend.”
Today, as of September 2021, Perez seems to have remained single.
Is Perez Hilton related to Paris Hilton?
Although the pair ‘share’ a last name, they are not related. Perez did model his stage name on the heiress, however. Paris Hilton also didn’t sue Perez for doing this, as was widely speculated by the public. Perez has also claimed multiple times that the two are friendly. He has also stated he is quite friendly with the likes of Britney Spears.
