Thrillz reports with insider knowledge about the Love Island 2021 cast, all the drama from the summer and what they’re up to now.
After over a year of withdrawal symptoms, the ITV hit dating show, Love Island, finally returned to our screens. It was another eventful summer inside the Love Island villa. Feisty rows, jaw-dropping revelations and very awkward moments.
Ten contestants entered the villa, and the winning couple won everyone’s hearts. From screaming matches to new arrivals ready to steal somebody’s girl, it was well worth waiting for. So let’s get straight into the juicy details!
Who were the Love Island cast members?
Kicking off the lineup was Sharon Gaffka, who was the first islander confirmed to join the show. Originally from Oxford and with an impressive background working as a civil servant for the government, she definitely made some of the men feel a bit… threatened.
She first coupled up with Hugo Hammond, a PE teacher from Hampshire. He was the first contestant on the show’s history with a physical disability called clubfoot, which he explained gave him a really short Achilles heel, meaning he had to walk slightly on tiptoes. Although Sharon was quite quick to friendzone Hugo. Aww!
Next up, party girl Shannon Singh, a glamour model from Scotland, hoping to meet an “exciting hunk”. In the opening episode, she paired up with luxury events host, Aaron Francis, who admitted that he does “prefer relationships than dating”. (Well, he’s on the right show then…) Aaron also had a claim to fame working two royal weddings for princesses Eugenie and Beatrice. Ooo la la!
The Brummy fave and marketing student, Liberty Poole, came on the show looking for a “tall, confident, alpha male [or] a nicer guy that is going to treat [her] right”. Preach it, sister! She partnered up with Jake Cornish, who was looking for his dream woman and was quite a big character on Love Island 2021.
Fashion blogger, Kaz Kamwi, was ready to enter the dating world and find her man. She coupled up with Toby Aromolaran, a sportsman searching for his first-ever serious relationship.
Finally, Faye Winter, a Lettings Manager looking to spice things up and take the bull by the horns, so to speak. She coupled up with labourer Brad McClelland, who was looking forward to date face-to-face without the outside world distractions.
Other notable mentions on the cast of Love Island 2021
Last season had more twists and turns than a country road, and with that came several new arrivals. Top of the list was Sam Jackson, who was dubbed one of the potential homewreckers and told ITV that he is “not afraid to step on anyone’s toes to get what he wants in the villa”.
Footballer from Kent, Aaron Simpson, came onto the scene and locked eyes with Mary. He prepared a cute breakfast with all her fav foods and won her over. How cute!
There were even some students who came on to find love straight outta medical school: Priya Gopaldas and Brett Staniland. These two hit it off because of their mutual interests, but Priya dubbed him kinda boring and basically said she’d rather watch paint dry. Ouch! Although Priya recently confessed she has a soft spot for Boris Johnson, so maybe that’s her type on paper?
Who joined Love Island and rocked the boat?
The islanders began settling down, but this was the calm before the storm. First to shake things up was Chloe Burrows, who made her debut in a stunning black mini dress and sent a very flirty voice note to the Love Island boys group chat. With a background as a financial services marketing executive, she was raking in the numbers! Chloe coupled up with Aaron Francis, leaving all the contestants on edge.
Tattoo artist, Abi Rawlings, then joined the Love Island 2021 cast, choosing to couple up with nice guy Dale. He had his eyes set on Mary Bedford, who then got wooed by Aaron Simpson. Meanwhile, AJ Bunker added to the mix, who coupled up with Hugo but was also keen on Danny Bibby, who had his eyes on new girl Lucinda, who was kind of the one all the lads were fighting for. Yep, there were definitely some love triangles going on!
Now, let’s not forget when Lillie from Casa Amor really got everyone’s knickers in a twist. She’d shared a cheeky peck with Liam, leaving fans of Milliam feeling extremely hard done by. Lillie and Millie (doppelgangers in this case) had a heart-to-heart, and at this point, the nation was sure that it was all over for Liam!
What were the best moments from Love Island 2021?
The running joke that ran between the islanders was the euphemism for their shenanigans. The Love Island girls created an NVQ code to see who would graduate (wink wink). Faye, Liberty and Chloe later revealed that they “graduated” with honours – all good fun in the summer of love. Meanwhile, the boys developed a coding system in their own language: football.
Hugo defo had a flair for the dramatics, and gave an incredible speech at the infamous fire pit saying that Chloe deserved better. This caused some rivalry between Toby (a footballer for Hashtag United) and Hugo, who went head to head in a not-so-friendly sports day competition, which Toby actually lost. Ah, the sweet smell of success.
Another funny moment was when the guys obliterated the famous swing chair, when Toby couldn’t decide who he fancied (boys, ay?) and then possibly Liam grafting to win over Millie’s heart again after he broke her trust.
What were the awkward moments from Love Island 2021?
Suffice to say, there were definitely some moments on the show that still gives us second-hand embarrassment. Remember when Liam decided to outright lie that he stayed loyal to Millie? Oh, and when Hugo kept saying he doesn’t like ‘fake girls’ which inspired a good old feminist debate headed by Sharon. Yup, they were both put in their place.
Another pretty awkward moment on last summer’s Love Island was the popcorn-filled movie night episode when all was laid bare. Liberty found out that Jake had the ick and was debating whether she was “the one”. Faye’s worries about Teddy Soares being boring and not funny were exposed (yikes) and the proper ‘lads lad’ mentality came to light.
Oh, we couldn’t leave without highlighting that moment when Hugo said: “My search for love in there…[laughs] tragic is probably the word for it.” While he was standing right next to his screen partner Amy Day… Snowcone, anyone?
The most shocking moment ever!
Fans of the show will know that Libby and Jake had a rocky road. Although Jake gave her a promise bracelet and declared his love, asking her to be his girlfriend, it led to a full-on volcanic eruption. After Jake’s revelations, the girls were worried that he was playing a game. This strong friendship group were ready to defend Libby until the very end.
With only days left to the season finale, Libby broke up with Jake. And then obviously someone decided it would be hilarious to send the exes on their ideal date on a yacht.
Who was dumped from the island?
Poor Shannon Singh drew the short straw when Chloe joined the villa, and was the first contestant to be dumped from the Island. Sharon was also booted off the show, which was pretty emotional as she was an original member.
In a huge plot twist, Danny and AJ were both dumped from the Island without a second chance. It was pretty brutal and unexpected – but just your average Wednesday night antics in the villa.
Mr. Hugo Hammond probably had the worst luck on the show; although not all is lost as he did have an amazing fun summer in a hot country. You gotta pick your battles, and Hugo had a good run. After coupling up with Amy from Casa Amor, both parted ways in the penultimate week.
Which Love Island couple surprised us the most?
Faye and Teddy had some on-screen rants that required earplugs. Despite it all, the pair kept getting back together, although islanders were adamant that they wouldn’t last on the outside.
Kaz and Tyler Cruickshank (aka Ty) seemed to really hit it off. Ty was a solid flirt, and sparks were flying as soon as the pair went on a date. But temptations were tested when the lads went to stay at Casa Amor. In the words of Hugo, everyone was “moving mad”. Even after Ty coupled up with Clarisse, it was clear that the two still had feelings for each other. After a few ups and downs, they patched things up. A bit of a dilemma, but it is what it is.
Who won Love Island 2021?
Those past eight weeks were incredibly tense, and it all led up to the big moment. Who would be crowned the winners of Love Island 2021? A whopping 2.8 million viewers tuned in to vote for their fave couple. It came as no surprise that Millie and Liam were crowned winners.
Who is still together from Love Island 2021?
The question on everyone’s lips is will the love last when the stars return home? Obviously, power couple Millie and Liam are still together. The couple which have equal romantic to roast ratio in their relationship is Chloe and Toby, who are pretty much soul mates. Even with the odds stacked against them, Faye and Teddy have proved that they are destined to be together and remain loyal.
There’s sometimes a lot of speculation about whether Love Island is genuine, with ex-Islander Shannon Singh even saying that couples stay in relationships afterwards just to keep up appearances. But to our knowledge, the top 3 couples are on solid ground.
What happened after Love Island?
Being in the villa for eight weeks and becoming overnight sensations will naturally turn your life around, like a little trip to the Wizard of Oz. Towards the tail end of 2021, Chloe Burrows announced that she signed with JD Sports, a huge brand which also happens to be her favourite!
Sharon and Kaz are now models and reps for Boux Avenue; Faye became the first-ever ambassador for Razzl Dazzl Hair and Liberty has partnered with The Style to create her very own collection.
Former bricklayer Liam is now starting his own business as a property tycoon, while his beau, Millie has signed with ASOS to become the face of the brand.
The show gave everyone a huge platform to become incredibly successful, from business owner to influencer and everything in-between. The reality TV stars are making as much money as fellow islander Molly-Mae, and we can expect a lot more partnerships and success for them to come.
Where are the Love Island crew living now?
Toby and Chloe have moved in together in London, the logical next step. Chloe recently shared on her Instagram a timeline of 2021, going from a studio flat to a lush apartment with her boyfriend just in time for Christmas.
The one in a Milliam are really living the lavish lifestyle in a huge £1 million home in Essex – it even has a cinema room! With Faye originally from Devon and Teddy from Manchester, the pair have moved in together in London.
When is the Love Island 2021 reunion?
If you didn’t get your fix of Love Island, then you can catch a re-run of the reunion on ITV2. It aired on September 5th, and it will keep you entertained.
Is there a Love Island campaign?
Sharon openly discussed that she wants to diversify the Love Island casting for the following show. She told Tyla magazine “There’s no point having a diverse cast if you’re not gonna [recruit members of] the opposite gender [who have a] diverse type.” Fellow islanders, Lillie Haynes and Lucinda, will also join her fight. We can’t wait to see what’s in store next time!
